LE KAE
We are pleased to present LE KAE, an exhibition featuring works by Manelisi Nene and Katleho Mosia, produced during their six-week residency.
Their practices converge through a dialogue of greetings, rooted in their isiZulu and Sesotho heritage.
A greeting is more than a word, it is a threshold, a sacred act of recognition. In isiZulu, Sanibona is not simply hello, but an invocation: “We see you, and all those who journey with you.”
In Sotho, Le kae? follows—“Where are you situated, and where do you and your lineage reside?” More than a question, it is a call to gather histories and step into a circle of belonging.
The exhibition invites us to look beyond the surface—to recognise not only the physical, but the spirit and histories carried within. It reminds us that to see is to embrace, and to acknowledge is to affirm existence itself.
TO BE SEEN is not an end—it is a beginning. A reflection on presence, acknowledgment, and belonging.
Opening: 20 September | 12:00–15:00
Venue: 73 Dorp Street, Bo-Kaap, Cape Town -
ISITHUNZI
Join us for the opening of ISITHUNZI, an evocative exhibition by Lindokuhle Khumalo and David ‘Blakc’ Madlabane.
ISITHUNZI emerges from a collaborative residency grounded in deep dialogue, shared belief systems, and layered cultural perspectives. The title ISITHUNZI—often translated as “shadow” in English—holds complex and fluid meanings in Nguni languages, encompassing dignity, spirit, presence, and social standing.
Rather than framing shadows as absence, the exhibition reclaims them as sacred repositories—carriers of memory, lineage, resistance, and transformation. The works presented become sites where personal and cultural shadows are uncovered and honoured, making tangible the invisible resonances of land, identity, and spirit.
Positioning the shadow as both a sacred twin and a keeper of fragmented memory, the exhibition traverses deconstructed landscapes that mirror psychological terrains. Through surreal aesthetics and material experimentation, ISITHUNZIbecomes a conduit between the physical and the spiritual—inviting viewers to confront silences, embrace interconnectedness, and move toward collective healing.

AMANI: The Pursuit of Peace
PEACE is often defined as freedom from disturbance or conflict. But in reality, peace is far more layered—shaped by personal histories, cultural landscapes, and global systems. It can mean safety, dignity, justice, silence, or the absence of fear.

Peace is not a single definition—it’s a journey, a demand, and a vision shared across humanity.Join on the 17th May 2025 and see what peace means to these artists: Kabelo Moraloki, Kwabena Shange, Pieter Lubbe, Sive Mraulana, Chloe Khan, Kimberley Titus, Michel Henry, and Khomotso Phetla.

THE MEANING BETWEEN US
We’re excited to announce our very first exhibition! Save the date and join us on Saturday, 21 October.
The Meaning Between Us by Alouette Ferreira explores how meaning is formed through dialogue. Dialogue creates relationship—it differentiates human connection from robotic interaction.
Through her paintings, Alouette investigates embodied dialogue, often taking the form of play. Both play and dialogue become tools for exploring how we act, respond, and relate to one another.
Her work invites viewers to reflect on what real-world interaction looks like, reminding us of the depth, spontaneity, and presence found in human exchange.
We look forward to welcoming you.

UNMASKING REALITIES
Realities are experienced both individually and collectively. To function within today’s societies, we are often compelled to wear masks—concealing parts of our true selves.
Yet unmasking and embracing authenticity can be vital in forming meaningful human connections, relating to one another’s realities, and understanding individual truths.
Drawing on this understanding, the three artists-in-residence—Hugo Kanyingukabeya, Kabelo Moraloki, and Yvette Hughes examine masked connections and lived experiences through their distinct lenses, shedding light on the complexities of visibility, vulnerability, and truth.
